A skilled Business Analyst with extensive experience in subsurface technology is needed to join a technology modernization project. The successful candidate will transform and modernize a technology platform to meet the needs of subsurface exploration, drilling, development, and production flow assurance functions. This role involves working closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze business processes, and help identify cost-effective solutions. 
The successful Business Analyst will work closely with a solution architect to define the business requirements and build a business case for the executive team.  You will understand where the business has come from, where it is now and the ideal solution to support the business in its transition in the coming years.

What will you be doing
  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document detailed business requirements.
  • Process Analysis: Analyze and document current business processes and data workflows, defining opportunities for improvement and optimization.
  • Documentation: Prepare and present comprehensive documentation, including business requirements, workflows, and user stories.
  • Coordinate Proofs of Concepts (PoC’s): Develop performance benchmarks for specific workflows and engage external technology suppliers to prepare applications, datasets, and run tests.
  • Solution Selection: Work with project team members to prepare tender documentation (RFI/RFP), assess responses, and select solutions that meet business needs and align with industry best practices.
  • Business Case Preparation: Collaborate with the team to prepare a business case for the selected solution.
  • Stakeholder Management & Communications: Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
  • Project Coordination: Support the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and tracking progress against milestones.
What do you need
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years as a Business Analyst or in a Technology Support role, with a focus on subsurface operations.
  • Critical knowledge: Experience in oil & gas exploration, drilling, development, and production flow assurance data workflows.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in supporting or using subsurface software applications and data systems (On-Premise and/or in the Cloud) is highly desirable.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Specifics

This is a contract role based in Perth and due to start in Mid-January 2025.  You must be in Perth with full working rights to be considered.  It is an initial 6-month engagement, and the scope of the role will likely be delivered within the 6-month time frame.  There is a day rate on offer for this engagement.
