This Buyer is responsible for the procurement of materials, components, and services required for the production and maintenance of turbomachinery and diesel engine systems. This role involves sourcing reliable vendors, negotiating contracts, ensuring timely delivery, and managing inventory levels to support manufacturing and aftermarket operations.
 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Source, negotiate, and procure materials, parts, and services in support of turbomachinery and diesel engine manufacturing.

  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and reliability.

  • Review technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation to identify purchasing needs.

  • Collaborate with engineering, planning, and production teams to forecast demand and avoid supply interruptions.

  • Issue purchase orders, track deliveries, and manage supplier performance metrics (OTD, quality, cost).

  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels without overstocking or material shortages.

  • Resolve issues related to price discrepancies, invoice errors, or late shipments.

  • Assist in cost reduction initiatives, including supplier consolidation and alternate sourcing.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (ISO, ASME, etc.).

  • Support new product development (NPD) projects by sourcing prototype components.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.

  • 3+ years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment; turbomachinery, diesel, or heavy industrial preferred.

  • Strong understanding of technical documentation such as BOMs, part drawings, and specifications.

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).

  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to mechanical equipment is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with rotating equipment, diesel engines, or large-scale mechanical systems.
