NES Fircroft are delighted to be partnering with an Energy industry giant looking to add a Civil Engineer with Steel Structures experience to join their team in Paris, France (Champigny-sur-Marne)

This role will be a contract based position and will be for an initial 12 months duration with excellent potential to go well beyond. It will offer a strong day rate of pay and the opportunity to join an multi national Industrial Gas specialist.

Role overview

The main missions will be:
  • Participate in the establishment of the project study schedule
  • Monitor and coordinate engineering studies for civil engineering and/or structural steel execution and validate the design
  • Support the project team
in accordance with the procedures of the Engineering Department. Objectives and deliverables

On the CIVIL ENGINEERING part and On the METAL FRAMEWORK part
  • Validate the calculation hypotheses of foundations and metal structures (geotechnical characteristics, seismic spectrum, wind speed, steel resilience, concrete and structural regulations, underground networks, etc.)
  • Establish the specifications for the subcontracting of the soil campaign, the establishment of a soil report, detailed civil engineering studies, detailed studies of metal structures, an office specializing in rotating machinery, etc.
  • Analyse geotechnical reports (soil stress, differential settlement, soil categories, reaction moduli, pile behavior in the soil, water table, )
  • Guide and supervise the design and coordinate the object studies of these subcontractors, and verify the dimensional adequacy of the structures in line with the piping and boilermaking installation studies
  • Manually calculate reinforced concrete elements (bending reinforcement, shear,...),
  • Designing structural systems (material strength)
  • Calculate (manually) structural steel elements (buckling calculation, finite element calculations with a given software, integration of natural frequencies of vibration, European codes, etc.)
  • Determine the technical relevance and economic optimization of civil engineering and steel structures
  • Establish progress reports on deliverables, hours and material costs, according to the project schedule
  • Establish the technical part of works contracts for foundations, piles, roads and utilities, buildings, and metal structures
  • Follow up on calls for tenders, establish technical comparative tables, and participate in technical clarifications with companies
  • Ensure that the execution of studies is carried out in accordance with the project schedule
  • Provide technical support for civil engineering and carpentry during the assembly of the site
The deliverables are to be delivered according to the project schedule:
  • TRS studies and works contract, comparisons
  • The progress report on the coordination of the studies based on the deliverables
  • The calculation note (column anchors)
  • Specifications for civil engineering and steel framework studies (TRS)
  • Specifications for civil engineering and steel structure works
  • Annotated plans of design offices and suppliers
