- Promote the observance and implementation of the Project’s commercial structure
- Liaise with other teams, such as Legal, Project Finance, Accounting, Project Support, Partner Relations, and provide support or input (as the case may be) on cross-cutting (transversal) matters concerning the Project.

1. Assist and take part in the negotiation of commercial agreements/arrangements between Project Operator and the Government of the Republic of Mozambique related to:
- Exploration & Production Concession Contract (EPCC)
- Decree-Law
- Marine Concessions
- Financial Stability Agreements
- Petroleum Law and Regulations
- LNG Project Agreement (if applicable)
- Facility Concession Contract (FCC) (if applicable)
- other agreements as necessary
- Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy
- National Petroleum Institute
- ENH
- Ministry of Economy and Finance
- Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security
- Ministry of Transport and Communications
- Immigration Authority
- Customs Authority
- Others as necessary or directed
- Acquire basic HSE awareness by knowing the framework, the HSE & biodiversity policies, and the 12 Golden Rules
- Comply with mandatory HSE trainings (HSE Induction, Safety Culture & Golden Rules)
- Prepare and present safety moments whenever required (at the beginning of meetings)
- Use of the Stop Card whenever required in order to prevent any accident or incident
- Contribute Specific action during JMS Word Safety Day.
- Propose an HSE improvement action for the entity, based on personal observations at the workplace
- Identify and Report all anomalies in the workplace and making proposal for correction
Context and environment
- Incumbent’s original job location is Maputo
- Close work with and under the direction of Business Development Manager
- Main focus: provide support on the management of the commercial structure/contractual framework of the Project, as well as help manage and promote the observance of all obligations arising therefrom, as negotiated and agreed with the Government of Mozambique.
Accountabilities
- Participate in and provide input on commercial negotiations with the Government of Mozambique and Project Partners.
- Contribute to the formulation of negotiation positions from a commercial standpoint. The incumbent drafts internal memos/summaries for the VP-Project Governance and the Business Development Manager.
- Liaise with Project Partners, in coordination with Legal and other teams as necessary, in relation to ongoing commercial matters.
- Participate in the fulfilment of mandatory reporting and corporate obligations of the Project’s Special Purpose Entities (SPE’s).
- Ensure the provision of regular updates for the Business Development Manager and Project Partners regarding the status SPE’s reporting and corporate obligations.
- Ensure the preparation and submission of the Project’s quarterly and annual activity reports to the National Petroleum Institute.
Qualifications/Experience required
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution in Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, Business or Law (however not a practicing attorney),
- Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
- 10 or more years business experience preferably in Oil and Gas, Energy or Heavy industry.
- Business experience in African Countries, preferably in Mozambique
Preferred business experience:
- Regular interaction with governmental agencies
- Commercial/negotiating experience
- Mining or forestry or energy (power, oil & gas, pipeline) – commercial/business related or operations management
- Business leadership/management or entrepreneurial business experience
- Fluent in both Portuguese and English
