Scope
- The Construction Area Superintendent, leading his team, is responsible for the coordination and monitoring of the multi-discipline construction activities in his area of responsibility, in close contact with and support to the EPC Contractor and the relevant sub-contractors. This shall include all required measures to ensure a safe performance of the construction activities as per schedule, to hand-over a fit-for-purpose facility to the commissioning team.
- The role requires demonstrable safety leadership that sets a high benchmark to be sustained throughout the project.
- Be a safety leader and spread the safety culture to all parties of the Project, using his/her Stop Work authority as required.
- Develop team spirit, foster teamwork, and build trust within his team.
- Participate to the personal and professional development of his peers and subordinates.
- Ensure that corporate and local Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and regulations are applied on project activities.
- Promote a total quality work ethic and safe and pleasant work environment and establish an environment of mutual respect and teamwork with all employees with frequent inspections of work sites each day.
- Prepare, coordinate, and monitor all construction activities in his/her area, as per project requirements and construction procedures, up to sub-system handover to Commissioning team, by maintaining close relationship with the EPC Contractor.
- Ensure strong physical presence at Site to demonstrate safety commitment, technical oversight, and immediate reporting to his management for all technical or coordination issues or potential risks, as well as any HSE incident.
- Responsible for verification of progress reporting of construction activities.
- Participate to all quality surveillance programs and inspect the civil works as directed in the approved ITPs.
- Support the development of execution plans, method statements, and other relevant procedures to ensure that work plans and scopes are aligned with project strategies and deliver a safe, qualitative and timely execution of the project.
- Support the Construction Manager, by providing inputs and coordination, in the resolution of technical issues in the area.
- Analyze the site situation and the potential issues and risks using his technical experience; propose technical solutions to his Construction Manager and ensure site implementation of the solutions decided by his/her management.
- Participate to all necessary construction planning meetings to ensure a smooth resolution of all technical issues, prior any impact to schedule or cost, as well by anticipating such issues as required.
- Engineering degree, with 10-years or more oil & gas construction experience.
- Experience on large scale oil and gas projects from both an owner and contractor perspective.
- Ability to schedule priorities and multi-task within time and budget requirements.
- Strong HSE culture and safety leadership.
- Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence critical decision agreements regarding safety, schedule, and cost.
- English written and verbal communication skills, Arabic is a plus.
- Ability to encourage and work within a team culture in a multinational environment.
- Communication, Organization, Planning, Time management and Reporting skills.
