About this Opportunity:
This position will collaborate with Cenovus field and office staff during the development, planning and execution of NPI projects. During the execution of the project they will represent Cenovus at site and will direct any contractors, subcontractors, vendors etc. being accountable deliver safe, efficient, and compliant work while promoting a culture built on corporate values. This role requires technical proficiency and competency in all aspects of design, planning, and execution and requires a thorough understanding of safe work practices, programs and procedures. This position will be based at project sites throughout Cenovus’ Oilsand Portfolio and will report into the Senior Manager, Infrastructure Projects.

Responsibilities:
OHS Employee - Understand, comply with and communicate OH&S Legislation Contractor & Project Management Pre Mobilization Work: Pre-Bid: - Participate in bid document assembly and contractor bid reviews - Participate in project execution planning (design reviews, model review, CWP development, etc), when required Post Award: - Lead team reviews and joint acceptance of Contractor project documentation (JSA, ERP, Execution Plans, ITP's, etc.)Execution: - Must communicate to the contractors any existing or potential site hazards that may affect the contractors workers. Existing or potential hazards must also be included on Safe Work Agreements issued to the Contractor - Provide documented verification against contractor project documentation for compliance. Document and communicate variances / risks / mitigations. - Identification of higher risk work or changes in scope requiring risk assessments and ensuring it is executed. Cenovus Risk Matrix to be used as guide. - Participate in contractor completion activities (walkdown's, deficiency completion, demobilization)Post Execution: - Participate in contractor close outs and lesson's learned meetings Safety - Review, participation and implementation of Cenovus Safety Initiatives- Actively learn, participate and verify adherence to Cenovus Safety Management System- Wear required PPE- Actively participate in field hazard assessments- Identification and participation project risk assessments- Participation in CCMT Mentorship (Mentee / Mentor) & Competency Program- Observe and Mentor team members

Quality - Actively learn, participate and verify adherence to Cenovus Specifications- Participate in quality related activities (ITP reviews, turnover package verifications, quality audits and walkdowns) Schedule - Participate in the development and management of project schedules- Understand contractor / vendor schedule, and its role up into project schedules- Participate in contractor progress verifications, communicate findings and risks- When required, work with Contractor and CCMT members to develop and accept schedule recovery plans
Cost - Review and acceptance of contractor / vendor LEMs (verification of hours, people & equipment - not rates)- Review and acceptance of contractor / vendor reporting, verifying accuracy of actuals + forecast including identification of variances and contractor mitigations in daily reporting
Change Management - Ongoing Contractor and Construction Work Package risk identification and resolution recommendations- Review and recommend resolution for technical and contractual issues
Communication / Reporting - Accurately identify and communicate risk (Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule) management- Coordinate work with required CVE stakeholders (Example: Operations, Drilling, Completions, Regulatory, etc.)- Provide daily progress / risk / look ahead reporting- Daily communication with contractors and Cenovus peers- Develop and maintain effective working relationship with CCMT peers and functional team members
Other - Active participation in toolbox, coordination and communication meetings - Maintain daily journal / log, recording key conversations & information


Qualifications:
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada • 15+ years of relative experience • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills.
• Demonstrate leadership experience and skills.
• Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license (driver’s abstract is required) • Strong coaching, mentoring, and lead by example skills.
