Our client Chevron in Perth is currently seeking a Cultural Heritage Field Coordinator on BWI on a 2:2 roster for a 2 year contract.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinating Traditional Owner participation in surveys and consultation on Barrow Island with primary focus on the WA oil decommissioning program that will commence in 2025
• Working in tandem with Cultural Heritage (CH) and WA Oil Project team on survey scoping, planning and execution to support Barrow Island activities
• Logistics and execution of CH surveys and monitoring on BWI in accordance with Chevron policies and procedures
• Being a H&S leader for the field survey team – running pre-starts, participating in project pre-starts, liaising with site personnel, general trouble shooting
• Notifications, incident management and reporting
• Supporting building relationships with Traditional Owners, DBCA reserves officers and internal stakeholders
• Training and development and off-survey season planning Dec-Jan-Feb (some based in Perth office)
• Facilitating TOs access to Barrow Island and spending time on Country i.e. cultural activities, fishing and visiting sites of cultural significance
• Supporting consultation by facilitating on Country meetings
• Providing feedback to the cultural heritage team and recording concerns or issues raised during TO surveys and consultation
• Gaining general understanding of project and other activities on Barrow Island
• Delivering proactive and reactive team communications in line with Chevron objectives
• Undertaking education and awareness building of Chevron cultural heritage management system and procedures with site teams
• Off-survey season Dec-Jan-Feb (some based in Perth office) for training and development, planning and scheduling for upcoming survey season
• Outside of field survey windows, supporting heritage field notifications and inputs into Heritage Assessment due diligence processes, heritage assurance and compliance checks and other projects
• Other tasks as directed by CH lead and/or WAO Super to support the cultural heritage management on BWI
Key Skills and Experience Required:
• Working with Traditional Owners in similar roles coordinating field surveys, such as engagement lead, heritage liaison officer, heritage survey adviser
• Logistics, compliance and coordination experience
• Understanding of heritage management and protection processes
• Strong focus on health and safety and Safe and Respectful Inclusive Behaviours
• Demonstrated relationship building, communication skills and ability to manage conflict
