Job Title: Certified Welding Inspector
Job Summary: The Certified Welding Inspector is responsible for providing timely assistance with inspections, welding, and painting activities related to project execution. These tasks must be performed safely and efficiently to avoid compromising facility operations. The role also involves reviewing procedures to ensure safe and environmentally friendly execution. A thorough understanding of welding and construction practices in a petrochemical or process plant environment, in line with applicable codes and standards, is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Verify welders' qualifications for project requirements.
  2. Monitor welder performance and visually inspect welds and repairs according to company procedures and international standards.
  3. Review and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) for compliance during job execution.
  4. Verify welding machine and electrode baking and storage in the workshop to ensure all equipment meets job specifications.
  5. Conduct fit-up and dimension inspections as per the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) and review radiography test films.
  6. Review and approve Painting Procedures and Specifications to ensure compliance during job execution.
  7. Provide support for fieldwork as needed, ensuring adherence to established specifications, safe practices, and procedures.
  8. Review and provide input on project schedules and timelines.
  9. Collaborate with the Maintenance Department on mechanical or maintenance issues related to the project to ensure alignment.
  10. Participate in risk assessments and job planning sessions.
  11. Join construction walk-downs and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs).
  12. Support and participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including baseline testing and line/vessel commissioning.
  13. Review project documentation, such as Construction Dossiers and As-Built Drawings.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. UTT or NEC National Technician's Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  2. At least 12 years of overall experience, with a minimum of 7 years in inspection, construction, turnaround, and commissioning in the Oil and Gas Industry.
  3. Certifications:
    • AWS Certified Welding Inspector
    • API 570 Piping Inspector
    • NACE – CIP Level 1
    • ASNT-SNT-TC-1A Level II
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
  • Proficiency in computer use.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Outlook Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Good technical writing skills.
