Job Overview
The Data Manager, reporting into the CIO, is responsible for leading the data strategy, governance, and analytics function within the Organisation. This role ensures that data is effectively managed, stored, and utilized to provide business insights and maintain a competitive edge. The Data Manager will oversee data policies, governance frameworks, and advanced analytics initiatives to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.

Job Overview
The Data Manager, reporting into the CIO, is responsible for leading the data strategy, governance, and analytics function within the Organisation. This role ensures that data is effectively managed, stored, and utilized to provide business insights and maintain a competitive edge. The Data Manager will oversee data policies, governance frameworks, and advanced analytics initiatives to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.
Data Manager Key responsibilities:
- Support all aspects of data governance, analytics, and IT strategy
- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) on data-driven decision-making and compliance.
- Collaborate with the CIO on data investments, priorities, and innovation initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, Data Integrity obligations, and industry data standards.
- Work closely with procurement teams to review data-related requirements in vendor contracts and third-party risk assessments.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
- Oversee the management, storage, and security of data assets, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Lead the design and implementation of data architecture and analytics platforms to drive business insights.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data quality, accessibility, and usability across departments.
- Drive initiatives to enhance data-driven decision-making, predictive analytics, and AI/ML capabilities.
- Ensure integration of data systems with enterprise applications and cloud solutions.
- Implement robust data security, privacy controls, and disaster recovery processes.
- Establish relationships with NOC and NGC IT, external auditors, and compliance teams.
- Provide mentorship and training to teams on data management best practices and analytics tools.
What you will need to be successful:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications such as CDMP, DAMA, or AWS/Azure Data Certifications preferred.
- Extensive experience in data governance, management, and analytics.
- Strong knowledge of data architecture, data warehousing, and cloud-based data solutions.
- Experience with big data technologies, AI/ML, and business intelligence (BI) platforms.
- Proven track record in data compliance, security, and regulatory reporting.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in mentoring and developing data teams.
- Experience working in high-risk industries such as oil & gas, energy, or critical infrastructure is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong Team player with demonstrated ability in consensus building to ensure excellent stakeholder engagement, alignment and ethical decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Essential Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Desirable proficiency in Arabic and/or Kurdish.
