NES Fircroft are delighted to support a major client with the services for Distributed Control Systems (DCS) Techncial Authority, to work in Africa on a 4X4 Rotational basis.

Primary role:
  

The primary role of the Technical Authorities (TA) is to act as technical integrity advisor within designated engineering discipline by ensuring the safe and consistent application of national regulatory codes, site technical practices and engineering standards. The TA shall provide assurance to the Engineering Authority (EA) that all equipment and systems under their responsibility meets the Standard of Performance, and that plans are put in place to rectify any deviation that is identified.  

Responsibilities:  

The TA’s have a responsibility for the assigned systems and for specific equipment.

 System responsible: As responsible for a system the TA shall ensure that the overall system functions as required without impairing safety.
 Equipment responsible: The TA shall ensure that the equipment functions as required.  

The Position, Duties and Responsibilities:  

The DCS Engineer shall ensure that all logic solvers operate as specified with an availability meeting the requirements. All programmable logic solvers, including but not limited to, Yokogawa distributed control and safety systems, turbine control systems, fire and gas control systems, substation control systems and compressor control systems. The term logic solver is here meant to be the hardware and associated programmable logic. Provide the necessary technical support of control systems including Integrated Control and Safety System ICSS, Process Control Network (PCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Programmable Electronic Systems (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for operation, maintenance activities and project modification. This will include as well management and maintenance of software and logic solver backups.

Responsibilities:

• Process Control Network Digital Security
• Alarm handling of the main process control, shutdown and fire & gas systems.
• Provide availability of all Data Historian Systems to the clients.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting to maintenance and operations on control systems and equipment.
• Assist with troubleshooting and maintenance of Control and Instrument Systems such as PLC, DCS and ESD systems
• Assist in developing conceptual or/and detailed in-house software and hardware control systems modifications.
• Perform root cause failure analysis and make recommendations to avoid future failures
• Progress assigned engineering queries, evaluating and effecting the appropriate solutions to close-out
