The Role
To give you an idea of how this Director of Clean Energy and Heat Networks role would look and feel, here are some of the things you could expect to do:
- Lead strategic energy decarbonisation projects across the city, including the development and delivery of a pipeline of energy investment and heat network projects.
- Oversee the operational delivery of major energy infrastructure decarbonisation projects, using the latest technology and innovation to help achieve net zero targets.
- Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to translate clean energy priorities into impactful outcomes for Westminster’s communities, businesses, and stakeholders.
- Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders to foster collaborative delivery partnerships, ensure effective impact assessment, communications, and engagement.
- Enhance the council’s capability in energy decarbonisation, ensuring benefits across climate, air quality, equality and health.
- Provide inspirational corporate leadership, manage resources responsibly, and promote a culture of equality and diversity.
To be successful in this Director of Clean Energy and Heat Networks role, you should have:
- Senior-level experience in managing large, complex heat and energy infrastructure projects.
- In-depth knowledge of heat network delivery models, financing, and relevant legislation.
- Proven ability to supervise teams and consultants in project implementation.
- Strong political acumen and experience in representing large organisations.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with a track record of setting strategic direction and fostering a high-performing workforce committed to diversity and inclusion.
- Professional membership of a relevant industry body (e.g., CIBSE) would be desirable.
