Our client is actively seeking a Engineering Research Technician/Chemist to join their team out of their facility in Allentown, PA! This individual would be in direct support of the product development team, working closely with experienced Scientists to develop new materials for various gas processes. This is full-time, long term contract with a large well known multi-manufacturer. 

We are seeking an entry level Laboratory technician - Chemist with laboratory experience for the Product Development Team to work closely with a Senior Scientist to develop and evaluate new materials for gas separation membrane applications.  In this position you will:
  • Be part of a global organization developing gas separation membranes from concept to commercialization
  • Apply analytical and critical thinking skills to produce creative solutions for technical challenges.
  • Conduct chemical synthesis, material analysis, and product evaluation at our world class technology facility 
  • Be able to advance and grow in knowledge, capabilities, and responsibilities within the technology organization.
 
About the Position: You will be a part of the Product Development Team in the Product and Applications Development organization within Membrane Solutions. You will work closely with a Senior Scientist to execute product development plans and support laboratory operations as needed with analysis and chemical expertise.
Position Responsibilities Include:
  • Perform all operations according to our safety requirements and maintain workplace safety in complete alignment with our Total Safety Philosophy
  • Conduct experiments following established procedures under the direction of a Sr. Scientist to develop new materials with desired properties. Ability to work with hazardous chemicals in a safe manner following existing procedures.
  • Accurately document all experiments including observations and results and maintain laboratory records.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory chemical inventory.
  • Employ standard analytical techniques to characterize materials and test polymers to evaluate their performance under different conditions and environment.
  • Assist in maintaining all laboratory and analytical equipment. Identify potential improvements to equipment operations and laboratory procedures. 
  • Assist in the development of weekly work objectives. Prepare data with analysis for discussion with development team. 
 
We are seeking results-oriented candidates with the following qualifications:
  • B.S. in Chemistry or closely related field or A.S. with 0-2 years related industrial experience.
  • Adept in laboratory techniques and equipment. Ability to accurately follow existing laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to learn new methods and techniques.
  • Experience in chemical research is a plus but not required.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with people with positivity from all cultures and at all organizational levels. Ability to work and contribute in a team environment.
  • Ability to thrive in an environment of change.
