NES Fircroft is actively seeking an experienced HSE Specialist for our Oil & Gas Pipeline and Terminal Client here in Southeastern PA!  This position would be a full-time contract opportunity with a strong potential for longer term extension into the future.  

This position would be tasked with overall field HSE oversight of our clients Pipeline and Terminal operations within the Southeastern PA region and could involve some travel throughout the local region to various sites.

Job Title: Field Safety Specialist – Oil & Gas Pipeline and Terminal Operations

Location: Southeastern Pennsylvania
Position Summary: The Field Safety Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and promoting safety practices in the field across pipeline and terminal operations. This position involves ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, as well as developing and implementing proactive safety strategies to prevent incidents, injuries, and accidents. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the oil and gas industry, experience in field safety, and a strong commitment to ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections on oil & gas pipeline and terminal sites to ensure compliance with safety regulations and internal policies.
  • Monitor and enforce the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure workers follow safety procedures.
  • Provide safety training and guidance to field personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Investigate safety incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure safety standards are met during pipeline and terminal operations.
  • Assist in the development and review of safety plans, risk assessments, and emergency response plans.
  • Monitor and maintain safety records, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and up-to-date.
  • Perform job hazard analyses (JHAs) for field activities and make safety recommendations based on findings.
  • Actively participate in safety meetings and safety performance reviews to identify areas for improvement.
  • Serve as the liaison between field teams and the safety department, providing real-time feedback and recommendations.
  • Ensure proper reporting and documentation of any safety concerns or violations in a timely manner.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and new safety technologies.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 5-7+ years of experience in a field safety role within the oil and gas industry, with experience in pipeline and terminal operations highly preferred.
  • Preferred Certifications:
    • OSHA 30-Hour
    • First Aid/CPR
    • Additional safety certifications (e.g., HAZWOPER, Fire Safety, etc.) are a plus.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • In-depth understanding of federal, state, and local safety regulations specific to oil & gas pipeline and terminal operations.
    • Proven ability to identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective actions.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and motivate personnel at all levels.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and safety management software.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to work in outdoor environments, including exposure to various weather conditions and challenging terrain.
    • Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, walking long distances, and lifting safety equipment.
Additional Information:
  • Position requires occasional travel within Southeastern Pennsylvania.
  • This role will involve frequent fieldwork, including inspections and audits in various operational locations.
  • Candidates must be willing to respond to emergency situations and on-call responsibilities as needed.
