Geotechnologist

• Main task is streamlining geological well profiles for all Oilsands assets via workflow or central petrel reference projects.
• Work with a multi-disciplinary team of Geologist and Geophysicists to provide technical support while leveraging database management skills that provide consistent and reliable information to the team.
• Maintain geological databases (formations, LAS, core analysis, etc.) and uphold integrity/accuracy of data in Petrel Studio, and internal Power BI dashboards.
• Loading and quality control of geological field and interpreted data sets including
formation and reservoir picks, lithological facies curves, observation well data, etc.
• Conduct yearly volumetrics of producing pads for annual forecasts.
• Create and understand critical geoscience outputs including but not limited to, constructing cross sections, building profiles, creating structure/ net pay/ saturation, and porosity maps.
• Retrieve and organize core and fluid analyses as well as completions data.
• Utilize log analysis software to generate data for mapping and petrophysical calculations.
• Preparation of presentation and report materials.
• Responsible for the assisting the team with planning and interpretation of yearly observation well programs as they pertain to SAGD operations; including but not limited to cased hole logging (i.e., RST), piezometers, thermocouples, and steam chamber cores.

Qualifications:
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Must have a geoscience or petroleum technology diploma
• 4-10+ years of geoscience experience in a variety of subsurface roles
• Experienced working with Geographic Information Systems (Petrel* and/or Geographix, GeoScout, ArcGIS)
• Preference for SAGD thermal or enhance oil recovery experience
• Experience in horizontal well planning will be considered an asset
• Strong experience in database management
• Models the values of Cenovus in all interactions and activities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience/capability in decision analysis and economic evaluation
