Job Title: HDEM Crane / EWP Mechanic
Location: Nunavut, Canada (candidates must be eligible to work in Canada)
Rotation: 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off
Job Type: Permanent Employment
Main Accountabilities
  • (Red Seal or equivalent) Crane/EWP Technician –Certificate of Qualification with 5 or more years of field maintenance experience working on Cranes and EWP’s.
  • Certification and relevant experience operating boom trucks, Telehandlers, Forklifts, EWPs, Cranes, Fuel/Lube and service trucks with a minimum of 10 years experience maintaining Grove, Terex, Manitou, Manitex, Genie, Skyjack cranes and lifting equipment
  • Those with secondary trades relating to Fire Suppression System Maintenance, Mobile Crane Maintenance and Operation, Electrical and Heating System Maintenance, or holding dual Red Seal Trade certificates relevant to the role are encouraged to apply.
  • Previous experience working in a remote Arctic operation with camp accommodations working with employees of all competency levels including developing individuals with minimal experience at apprenticeship levels performing maintenance activities
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting, repairing, changing components, and performing maintenance activities on the following equipment:
    • Terex RT130, RT780
    • Grove RT760, RT700, RT890E
    • Manitowoc M2250 and Cseries 2200 thru 3000
    • Stellar service truck cranes
    • Spider cranes
    • Genie manlifts
    • JLG manlifts
    • Skyjack scissor lifts
  • Valid Driver’s license to operate vehicles in Nunavut
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs; physically fit
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions



Main Qualifications
  • A valid interprovincial Red Seal Certification as a Crane / EWP Mechanic with experience maintaining equipment in a remote arctic environment.
  • Proven track record in safe work practices and quality workmanship
  • Ability to work alone and unsupervised in remote areas
  • Focused, energetic and organized with superior attention to detail and a sense of urgency
  • Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostics, failure mode analysis and defect identification skills
  • Motivated and hard working with a professional attitude
  • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions and to interpret technical manuals and specifications.
  • Language: Speak English, Read English, Write English (Inuktitut would be an asset).
  • Motivated to work under harsh Arctic temperatures
  • Previous mining experience is an asset.
