Our Client, an Oil and Gas Operator are seeking a Health Specialist for a 7-month contract with potential to extend. This will be a Perth based position commencing as soon as possible.
Position Description:
This role provides functional health support, and advice to the Clients business, as part of the corporate HSE team. The role will partner with senior operational management, Health and Safety and Human Resources professionals to support the implementation of proactive health related programs and support the clients exiting health management process including its Health and Hygiene Management Program.
The diverse range of stakeholders that the role will interface with will require excellent communication skills, a team focused collaborative approach and a hands-on capacity to support our emerging business.
This role will ensure operational obligations are met while identifying and implementing opportunities to improve control processes/outcomes.

Position Description:
This role provides functional health support, and advice to the Clients business, as part of the corporate HSE team. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide health advice, training and promotional activities, with the support of external medical and allied health providers and in consultation with functional and line Health and Safety Advisors.
- Support line/embedded Health and Safety Advisors, HR professionals, and operational leadership with the implementation of health-related programs.
- Coordinate 3rd party vendors who are engaged in implementation of health-related programs & campaigns.
- The ongoing development and administration of the client’s Health and Hygiene Management Program, at operational, line and corporate levels.
- Provide oversight and support of the client’s health information management system including the management and recording of health surveillance and fitness for work information.
- Develop and participate in internal assurance process as it applies to health-related processes and matters.
- Provide input to the development and oversight of Health-related Power BI Dashboards.
- Manage & if required facilitate the company Injury Management and Return to Work (RTW) program in consultation with health and insurance providers.
- Support Health and Safety Advisors, HR Business Partners and operational leadership through the development and implementation of health promotion programs, with external allied health provider support. This will include oversight of the client’s ergonomic assessment and health promotion program.
- Liaise closely with medical and allied health providers that support the client’s health related processes
- Attend health-related industry forums as the clients representative.
- This position is targeted as an early career position and will include external professional development and internal mentoring to allow the successful applicant to develop a wide range of skills.
- Excellent written (including report writing and process development) and verbal communication, high attention to detail and a can-do attitude.
- Ability to effectively engage stakeholders from a range of backgrounds and form effective working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a range of competing priorities and deliver a high level of internal customer service.

- Experience in injury management and return to work processes.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Ability to quickly learn data management systems.
- Tertiary level qualification in a Health-related discipline

- Ensure familiarity with and act in accordance with Company HSE Policies and all related HSE management standards and procedures.
- Undertake work in a manner that does not present a risk to themselves, others or the environment.
- Identify and report hazards in the workplace and work proactively to seek system improvements.
- Advise fellow employees of hazardous situations.
- Wear appropriate PPE and comply with safe work procedures at worksites.
- Assist new employees in the use of relevant work procedures and practices.
- Not engage in an activity that requires a certificate unless the relevant certificate or permit is held.
- Not attempt any task unless they are capable and competent to carry out that task.
- Except for an approved maintenance or repair procedure, must not interfere with, remove, displace or make ineffective any safeguard, safety device, equipment or appliance provided for HSE purposes.
- For EMT rostered roles: at all times during any period employees are rostered on or otherwise notified by the client that they are to be on-call: (1) remain on-call, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and monitor, read and respond to work-related contact outside their working hours (2) remain within 90 mins drive from the Perth CBD and ensure their blood alcohol content remains at less than 0.05% (3) return to, and perform, work, as required in the event the EMT is called in;
- EMT Leaders: are required to perform the requirements for EMT rostered roles and also carry the EMT phone (or divert the EMT phone to their personal mobile) and answer any calls that come through at any time whilst on call;
- For EMT non-rostered roles: monitor, read and respond to work-related contact outside their working hours, and return to, and perform, work, if required in the event the EMT is called in.
- Employees must not unreasonably refuse to monitor, read and respond to work-related contact outside their working hours.
