NES Fircroft are delighted to be partnering with a major Clean Energy client who are looking to add a Hydrogen Manufacturing Plant Unit Lead to join their team on a multi-billion dollar project.

The role will be contract based and will be to work from either the clients site in Sweden or alternatively from sub contractor offices in the Netherlands. 

This role offers a strong day rate of pay and a long term opportunity to suport a first of its kind clean energy development.

Role Mission:
The Hydrogen Manufacturing Plant (HMP) Unit Lead will play an important role in the Owners Engineering Team ensuring the successful delivery of the site project which is based in Sweden. Reporting to the Hydrogen Manufacturing Plant (HMP) Design Manager, the role requires a strong background in engineering, project management, and experience in large-scale industrial projects. The HMP Unit Lead will be responsible for a wide range of activities focused on design quality, coordination, and alignment including electrolysers, hydrogen compression & storage, cooling, and utilities. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for the continued implementation of the client Way for Engineering across HMP.

Responsibilities:
- Define and drive critical package deliverables, resources, assurance requirements and interfaces dependent on number and complexity of areas;
- Establish the list (MDR) of project phase critical technical documents and deliverables for review and assurance
- Manage technical aspects, including
     - Define scope of work
     - Clarify technical questions
     - Participate in supplier selection (provide/coordinate technical input)
     - Oversee the quality of the designs produced
- Review and resolve engineering related:
     - Decision making (ownership to make/escalate timely technical decisions)
     - RFI (Technical Queries) and design issues - Have the expertise to make engineering judgements and escalate to Design Lead as required
     - MOC & Design Change Notifications
     - Deviations
     - Interfaces
- Monitor & measure performance (including schedule and budget), and report, and escalate internal and external performance related issues for all scope in their Unit. Have a hands on approach to achieve the KPIs.
- Ensure robustness of and adherence to schedule
- Monitor overall Unit risks and lessons learnt, compliance with process (review etc.) and ensure timely close-out
- Ensure Design Review & Assurance process being followed incl. schedule of reviews
- Internal meetings, general admin and coordination
- Participate in reviews, including documents/deliverables, and design reviews incl. any pre- and post-work
- Resource management including resource allocation and management of team (They are the link between the core engineering team and the Design Manager)

Qualifications

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Civil or a related field).
* Minimum of 7 years of experience in plant design and project management, preferably in the heavy industrial sector (ideally with direct experience in hydrogen production or related fields).
* Proven track record in large-scale greenfield projects.
* Strong knowledge of the chemical process industry and integration with core production processes.
* Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
