About the Role An industrial production site in Rotterdam is looking for a Maintenance Instrumentation Engineer to help manage the performance, reliability, and compliance of instrumentation systems across the facility. This position plays a key role in maintaining critical infrastructure and ensuring ongoing operational safety and efficiency.
You’ll be responsible for coordinating preventive maintenance activities, supporting troubleshooting efforts, and contributing to continuous improvement projects within your discipline. This is a long-term position with strong growth potential, offering the opportunity to work in a forward-looking technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine preventive maintenance strategies to meet legal and internal requirements
  • Supervise and coordinate instrumentation maintenance performed by internal teams and external contractors
  • Prepare and scope repair jobs, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution
  • Collaborate with the project and engineering teams to maintain system integrity and support modifications
  • Initiate and lead technical improvement initiatives and monitor reliability tests where applicable
  • Ensure all relevant technical documentation is accurate and up to date in line with national regulations
  • Participate in or lead root cause analyses related to instrument system failures and recommend corrective actions
  • Serve as a support contact for maintenance planners handling complex technical issues
  • Propose and implement minor equipment changes (MOC) related to your technical scope
  • Deliver internal training and support knowledge-sharing across maintenance and operations
Your Background
  • Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a chemical, energy, or process industry environment
  • Understanding of applicable standards such as NEN, IEC, API, or EEMUA
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills at both technical and operational levels
  • Able to work flexibly and adapt to changing project and business needs
  • Eagerness to develop professionally and embrace new technologies and processes
  • Proficient in English; Dutch is a strong advantage and often essential for success in this environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and environmental compliance
