Our client is actively seeking a Labratory Technician/Bench Chemist to join their team out of their facility in Carlstadt, NJ! This individual will be working hands on within a labratory setting, performing a variety of tests on chemical components to aid in production of products. This is a full-time, contract to hire positions with a global chemical company!
The lab technician/bench chemist tests the chemical components of inks, dyes, and coatings. He or she analyzes and documents these components’ effects on properties such as color, rheology, abrasion, durability, viscosity, etc. The incumbent will also perform testing of the components that are used in adhesives, refractory, batteries, plastics, and other products for the same reasons. This job more hands on than theoretical. The selected candidate must be willing to prepare dispersions using pigments that are easily dispersible and that require frequent cleaning of the laboratory equipment and work surfaces.

Qualifications:
- An associate degree in chemistry or other physical science with Experience in Laboratory experience is a plus.
- At least five years of experience as a technician in a coatings or ink industrial chemical laboratory may be substituted for the degree.
- The ability to use common laboratory equipment such as mills, sample homogenizers, scales, mills, crushers, shakers, and other apparatuses is required.
- Proficiency in English and the ability to write reports, memoranda, and to compose other technical documents is required.
