Material Engineer

Aker Solutions take care of energy assets in a Life Cycle perspective. From the start to end of production Aker Solutions ensures safe operations, optimizes field utilization, and enables field life-extensions. We do business development and execute modifications and maintenance projects. There is a global trend towards decarbonization, and we aim to help our customers to decarbonize their operations and measure their emissions to manage them more efficiently, for instance by delivering brownfield electrification of existing offshore facilities. Now we explore opportunities in the aftermarket for renewables, to deliver offshore maintenance for the renewable sector when the market is ready. Aker Solutions employs approximately 11,000 people in more than 20 countries.

What will you be doing?

• Perform material selection, corrosion evaluation, define surface protection and evaluate insulation alternatives in engineering studies
• Create material selection report and material selection diagram 
• Create surface protection specification

Qualifications we think you should have:

• Master or Bachelor's degree in Material Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years experience in material engineering in study projects (Concept, FEED) 
• Comprehensive knowledge of material specifications, metals processing and heat treatment Knowledge of failures caused by stress and corrosion mechanisms 
• Knowledge of surface preparation and protective surface coating IWE certification is an advantage 
• Knowledge of relevant standards and specifications used in the North sea 
• Experience and understanding of multi-discipline tasks (process, piping, mechanical, instrument and structure) 
• A commercial mindset, good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team 
• Ability to deliver quality work within project schedules 
• Be systematic and accurate
