Our client is actively seeking a Mechanical Reliability Engineer to join the team at their manufacturing plant in Marcus Hook, PA. This mid-level position requires an experienced engineer with 5-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical reliability within an industrial manufacturing environment. This is a full-time, direct opportunity with a leading petrochemical company in the Greater Philadelphia region!!
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ensuring the operational reliability of mechanical systems, driving improvements, and reducing unplanned downtime. You will work collaboratively with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to optimize the performance and life cycle of equipment, while maintaining a strong focus on safety and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ensuring the operational reliability of mechanical systems, driving improvements, and reducing unplanned downtime. You will work collaboratively with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to optimize the performance and life cycle of equipment, while maintaining a strong focus on safety and compliance. Key Responsibilities:
- Reliability Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve the reliability of mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, motors, valves, and rotating equipment, ensuring the long-term health of the plant’s assets.
- Root Cause Analysis: Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for mechanical failures, providing actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence. Utilize reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles.
- Predictive Maintenance: Implement and enhance predictive and preventive maintenance strategies for critical mechanical equipment, utilizing tools like vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and ultrasound testing.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor mechanical system performance through regular data analysis, identifying trends and areas for improvement. Use this data to make informed decisions about repair, maintenance, and capital investment.
- Collaboration & Support: Work closely with maintenance and operations teams to troubleshoot mechanical issues and provide support for day-to-day operations. Act as a liaison to ensure alignment of maintenance and reliability goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and drive continuous improvement efforts for equipment reliability, availability, and performance. Develop and implement strategies to reduce downtime and enhance the overall efficiency of the plant.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of reliability performance, including failure histories, root cause analyses, maintenance records, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Provide regular reliability reports to senior management.
- Training & Mentoring: Provide guidance and training to junior engineers and maintenance staff on reliability practices and techniques.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with company safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience: 5-10 years of experience in mechanical reliability engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably in a chemical or polyolefins plant.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment, including pumps, compressors, motors, and valves.
- Experience with condition monitoring technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, etc.).
- Proficiency in reliability engineering tools and software (e.g., CMMS, SAP).
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 55000 and API 610.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to apply root cause analysis and failure analysis techniques.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Certifications (preferred):
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP).
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus. Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment, including exposure to machinery, noise, and temperature variations.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
