Role Overview:
The Power Management System (PMS) Electrical Commissioning Engineer is responsible for overseeing the PMS pre-commissioning and commissioning, and the interfaces / loop checks of PMS with all others HV and LV electrical systems and equipment within a project. This role focuses on ensuring that all electrical components are correctly interfaced with PMS and validated according to design specifications, procedures, and operational requirements, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the facility.

Responsibilities:
  • Commissioning Planning
    • Develop comprehensive PMS loop checks / interfaces plans with all electrical equipment, outlining objectives, procedures, and schedules for testing and validation.
    • Collaborate with project engineers and other disciplines to ensure electrical commissioning activities are integrated into the overall project schedule.
    • Review Vendors procedures for electrical testing.
  • Testing and Verification:
    • Supervise Vendors and Subcontractor’ testing of electrical systems, specifically interfaces, loop checks, and interlocks / permissive between power distribution, transformers, HV and LV switchgears, and EDG’s with PMS.
    • Supervise PMS electrical system integration tests to ensure that electrical systems operate correctly and safely.
  •  Test Procedure Development:
    • Create and / or review commissioning test procedures (CTPs) for electrical systems, ensuring they are detailed and comply with industry standards.
    • Ensure that test procedures are clear and provide specific instructions for conducting tests safely and effectively.
    • Determine temporary system requirements to enable commissioning testing
    • Prepare schedules for Vendor testing, assistance and support
    • Determine plant, equipment, tools and specialist tool requirements for commissioning
  • Issue Identification and Troubleshooting:
    • Identify and troubleshoot electrical issues that arise during the pre-commissioning and commissioning process, working closely with other Site disciplines to implement solutions.
    • Document any discrepancies from design specifications in NonConformance Reports (NCRs) and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Prepare or review detailed commissioning reports summarizing testing activities, results, and any issues encountered during the electrical commissioning process.
    • Maintain accurate records of all electrical commissioning activities, including test results, inspection reports, punch lists, and compliance documentation.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work collaboratively with the Commissioning Manager, Subcontractors, Vendors, and other engineers to ensure the effective execution of commissioning tasks.
    • Communicate test results and findings to project stakeholders, including Commissioning Manager and clients, ensuring transparency and alignment.
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations during electrical commissioning activities.
    • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed and that personnel involved in commissioning are trained in relevant safety practices.
  • Final Acceptance and Handover:
    • Participate in the final acceptance process, ensuring that all electrical systems are fully tested and verified to meet acceptance criteria.
    • Facilitate the handover of commissioned electrical systems to the operations team, ensuring they receive the necessary documentation and training
Skills and Qualifications:
  • A degree in electrical engineering or a related field, with substantial experience in electrical commissioning or a similar role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues effectively.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders.
