The site is based close to Kaitaia, and while this is remote, it is in one of the most beautiful parts of New Zealand, with beautiful beaches, affordable housing, it is a brilliant place to raise a family, it has no traffic queues, it has a relaxed lifestyle and some of the best fishing in the world.
We will consider candidates across NZ for this permanent role, however, if you are not based already in the far north then it is a requirement to permanently relocate for this position.

NES are proud to be exclusively working with a client based in the far north, who are looking for a Process Engineer to support the construction of a new processing facility from the design side. This is an exciting new frontier, our client has completed a demonstration plant, proving concept of their processing technology, and are now ready to push forward with the first stage of construction of their phase 1 plant.
Commencing in early 2025, you will provide design work to support existing operations, their demonstration plant, their new and future plant builds and provide both design and process improvement work. You will have experience in a similar capacity, either from a consultancy design side of your career or directly supporting industrial plant projects (must have full design experience). Due to the nature of the processing plant, experience with projects from the Oil & Gas, Chemical Manufacturing or Mining industries would be ideal.
Key responsibilities include:
You have had at least 3-4 years of design within a consultancy type role backed and/ or operational plant experience this would assist especially around the design and design evaluation of various parts of their specialised project work. A strong practical engineering acumen will also see you succeed in this role.
Having strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide array of internal and external parties is required, as well as having high attention to detail and strong organisational skills. You will also be required to manage various aspects of projects from design through to commissioning of plant at different levels of scale
You will need to be driven and flexible as being a younger and innovative company, they need everyone to chip in and assist in responsibilities that may not be directly under your job scope.

- Develop technical expertise in manufacturing processes to identify opportunities to improve safety, cost position, quality and/ or capacity,
- Troubleshoot daily process operational issues with both operations and maintenance,
- Provide relevant reporting to management and key stakeholders as required.
