NES Fircroft are delighted to be partnering with an Oil & Gas production giant who are looking to add an Process Development Lead to work for their team in Abu Dhabi.
This role will be contract based, initial 12 month contract and will be to work Monday – Friday full time from our clients sub contractor offices in Abu Dhabi. Excellent day rate and contractor package is on offer for this role.
Role overview
The Process Development Lead is a key role that reports to the Concept Engineering Manager. The principal accountability for the role is delivery of the Process related scopes during the Feasibility, Concept Development and Pre-Feed stages.

The preferred candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited University – preferably Process Engineering related.

- Performance management of international Contractor’s personnel supporting delivery of various engineering scopes from Pre-Appraise through to Concept/Select and early engineering
- Assist with assessment and evolution of the project portfolio to ensure that the “right projects” are in-place meet organisational expectations and business value needs
- Serve as focal point and Appraise/Concept Lead for assigned Studies and Concept/Select scopes
- Responsibility for Process and multi-disciplinary Engineering Assurance on behalf of the Operator Developments team
- Provide specialist assurance and serve as Concepts Development Lead for Process development scopes within organisation Appraise/Select portfolio
- Study/scope lead responsible for overseeing execution of studies and conceptual design
- Study framing and stewardship
- Review/Assurance of contractor Process discipline deliverables
- Performance managing the contractor to deliver the engineering scope for Process discipline
- Integration of studies with other ongoing study scopes and projects in execution
- Support with technical consolidation of various studies for decision making
- Support techno-commercial option screening/selection
- Delivering techno-commercial presentations to senior management and other organisational stakeholders on key study/optioneering outcomes, effectively communicating associated value case/business justification supporting study recommendations
- Preparation, finalisation and gaining stakeholder agreement for Project Statement of Requirements (SORs) & Decision Support Papers (DSPs)
- Supervising progression of assigned scopes through the Capital Value Process and assembly/preparation of all required pre-requisite information and deliverables to support gate requirements
- Support to Cost Estimation activities for ongoing scopes within portfolio
- Support with various RFI questionnaires & evaluation (if needed)
- Support preparation of RFPs (if needed)
- Support with bid evaluation (both TBE & CBE), as required
- Way forward planning & ensuring smooth handover/transition of scopes completed to Define/Execute team
- Integration of Lessons Learnt from other studies
- Participate in multi-disciplinary reviews, workshops and risk assessments
- Performing technical due diligence on third party power providers prior to power purchase agreements
- Ensuring that the project team and Contractors adhere to the established Company project procedures
The preferred candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited University – preferably Process Engineering related.
- A minimum of 20+ years of experience in Process, Project and Brownfield Engineering in the onshore hydrocarbon industry
- Experience with Process Simulation systems software (Hysys etc.)
- Experience with fieldwide hydraulic analysis to identify & debottleneck capacity constraints and maximize existing plant utilization.
- Familiarity with Oil and Gas industry codes and standards
- Familiarity with Oil & Gas industry IOC/NOC Specifications & Design Guidelines
- Able to lead engineering tasks with strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Experience across full project lifecycle i.e. Appraise/Select, Define, Execute, full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish (preferable)
- Owner’s Engineering & Assurance experience
- Experience working with remote teams
- Experience at framing Project solutions at conceptual, Front End and detailed engineering level detail
- Experience with managing Process discipline teams of diverse cultural backgrounds
- Excellent interpersonal skills; cultural awareness, positive attitude, commitment, initiative, team player, adaptability, oral & written communication, drive, and energy.
- Ability to work in an integrated team.
- Proven track record for delivery on challenging projects, involving complex organisational interfaces.
- Self-starter; able to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office software
- Fluent spoken and written English is compulsory and Arabic preferred
- Excellent communication skills, with documented experience of presenting technical materials to upper management teams
- Familiarity with HSSE Management systems and the application thereof
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities for successful project delivery
- Ability to work under pressure against tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of consistency, accuracy and quality is essential
- Experienced and adept in working across multi-function / discipline teams, excellent communication skills and ability to influence both up and down the organization.
- Chartered Membership of a relevant Professional Institution preferred
