Process Safety TA, will lead and coordinate all aspects of process safety within the Operations Technical Support team supporting the Engineering Authority (EA), discipline Technical Authorities (TA) and relevant operations positions accountable for individual elements of process safety.
The Process Safety TA is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining all relevant process safety engineering strategies, policies and procedures necessary to ensure the safe and efficient operation of processes, systems and equipment.
Working closely with the EA, discipline TA’s and other operations stakeholders, the process safety TA will ensure appropriate KPI’s, and other suitable performance measures, are established for process safety and also lead the delivery of process safety elements of operations performance contract.
The process safety TA is responsible for, and will lead, all necessary engineering reviews, revisions and updates to engineering risk management documents pertaining to process safety including HAZID, QRA, HAZOPs, LOPA, SIL studies, etc. He/she will be required to work closely with current operations custodians of these documents and processes (typically EA and TA’s) as well as relevant shareholder representatives to ensure compliance with JV Integrity Management Standard.
The position is suited to an experienced engineer capable of working in remote locations, with minimum support, as part of an international team of professional engineers representing all joint venture shareholders.

Responsibilities
- Provide assurance to Engineering Authority on all aspects of process safety within ISG.
- Provide technical support to all departments within ISG operations on the implementation of process safety.
- Identify and develop appropriate KPI’s, performance contract objectives, and other performance indicators as necessary to demonstrate process safety performance at ISG.
- Support the implementation of the IM standard as it relates to the process safety discipline.
- Ensure process safety related site technical, operating and maintenance practices satisfy the requirements of relevant Technical Practices, codes and Algerian laws/regulations, with respect to the process safety engineering discipline. Identify and assess the impact of any discrepancies. Where necessary produce new STP’s.
- Lead or participate in processes to manage technical aspects of process safety. Working closely with custodians of relevant basis of design documentation (eg Tech Mgr, Integrity TA, Process TA, etc) define and lead all necessary technical reviews to ensure all hazard and engineering risk management documents are current. This responsibility includes but is not limited to the following basis of design documentation:
- QRA
- HAZID
- HAZOP
- Integrity Level Analysis (SIL Assessments)
- LOPA
- Hazardous Area Classification
- Relevant simulation or modelling tools (e.g. PHAST)
- Lead or participate in managing operational aspects of process safety. Working closely with operations personnel define and lead all necessary reviews and updates to ensure effective implementation of operational risk management processes including but not limited to the following:
- Operational Risk Assessment
- Pre start up safety review (PSSR)
- Safe isolation and restoration of plant (SIRPS)
- Process safety related audits (eg isolation, control of overrides)
- Process Safety related Synergi SO/SC
- Provide process safety technical input to Management of Change process including review and approval of relevant project design deliverables associated with facilities modifications.
- Respond to process safety EQ’s raised by operations
- Contribute process safety skills to Incident investigation and emergency response planning / exercises as appropriate
- Interface between Shareholder companies, professional networks and ISG ensuring relevant lessons learnt and best practice in process safety are communicated and utilised effectively.
- Coach local and expat staff on principles and application of process safety
- Act as process safety champion for the site and collaborate with other PS TA’s at other JV sites to promote PS performance improvement at JV level.
