Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our team on a contract basis. The Quality Assurance Inspector will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of welding work by inspecting welds, verifying compliance with codes and standards, and documenting findings. This role is critical to maintaining the structural integrity and reputation of our client.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections of welded joints and materials to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Oversee various inspection techniques and tools, including visual inspections, ultrasonic testing, and magnetic particle testing.
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate records of performance.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to production personnel and management.
  • Perform routine inspections throughout the welding process to identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Collaborate with the production team to implement corrective actions and improve welding quality control methods.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and best practices to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of welding quality control policies and procedures
Qualifications:
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is required.
  • 6+ years of experience as a Welding Inspector or similar role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME).
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
Working Conditions:
  • This position is based in Destrehan, LA.
  • The role may involve standing for extended periods and working in various environmental conditions.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting
    • Will use arms and hands to signal or warn personnel, as required, of unsafe conditions
    • May be required to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs in weight
    • Will climb to heights, climb ladders and stairways, and for monitoring craft work off of platforms/scaffolding, and also use the appropriate fall protection when required
    • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, earplugs/muffs, safety vests, gloves, steel toe/safety toe boots, and masks/respirators
