Rotating Equipment Maintenance Team Lead

NES Fircroft are looking for a Rotating Equipment Maintenance Team Leader to join the Maintenance and Engineering department. The role will be based in Basra, Iraq. 

Role Overview :
Day to day direction and prioritisation of rotating equipment engineering support to deliver safe, reliable and compliant operations, including discipline leadership of rotating equipment engineers in the Maintenance & Engineering team.

Key Accountabilities
 
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Manages all aspects of discipline health, including competency, team size and recruitment. (Comment: Relevant activities include interviews, competency assessments, contractor evaluation, and contributions nationalization program as required.)
  • Manages and coaches a team of direct reports, and contractors driving the appropriate behaviours to achieve success, including a continuous improvement culture. Identifies capability gaps and puts gap closure plans in place.
  • Maintains the relevant suite of engineering processes and tools for the discipline. Ensures compliance to agreed regional Standards/Processes, endorsing deviations where needed.
  • Leads the prioritisation of work and allocation of resources for the discipline. Responsible for the quality of all work performed by the team. (Comment: Work plans and resourcing should address both short-term and long-term business needs.)
  • Leads the implementation and utilisation of condition monitoring and diagnostic capability for rotating equipment (Comment: Condition monitoring includes Lube Oil Analysis, System1 for vibration analysis, electric motor condition monitoring, etc.)
  • Ensures that high quality reliability/availability performance data for rotating equipment is collected and processed.
  • Leads a continuous improvement effort on reliability/availability of rotating equipment through improved operating protocols, design enhancements and optimised maintenance intervals. (Comment: Relevant considerations include OEM improvements, learnings from RCFA investigations, condition monitoring and diagnostics, quality of fuel/oil/air, critical spares.)
  • Creates near-term and long-term views of equipment obsolescence and develops both interim mitigating actions and long-term plans to address.
  • Reports performance using the agreed leading and lagging KPIs for the discipline, and reports these as required.

Essential Education

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

Essential experience and job requirements
  • Extensive technical understanding of rotating equipment design and maintenance.
  • Proven ability in practical application of engineering standards and practices for rotating equipment.
  • People leadership and stakeholder management experience.
  • Extensive and relevant industry experience in brownfield environments. At least 18 years industry experience with 5 years in International multicultural Operational roles across the full value chain of hydrocarbon and water production facilities.

  • Ability to develop others and foster diverse relationships in a multicultural environment
  • Ability to identify correct priorities of maintenance and engineering support activities
  • Identify and assess safety hazards
  • Ability to speak Arabic would be beneficial but not essential
