NES Fircroft are partnering with a global resources client who are looking for a Senior Environmental Geologist/ Geoscientist to join the Perth based team on a 6 month contract
 
 
The Role:
Reporting to the Principal Environmental Geoscientist, you will review and Interpret all available geological information (logging codes, assay results, mapping) and assess for potential to generate acid and or metalliferous drainage (AMD) and reactive ground.
 
Duties Include:
  • Manage geochemical sampling programmes to understand potential risks associated with a deposit and in support of environmental approvals and closure
  • Provide advice on elements/analytes requiring monitoring in water and tailings
  • Scope and manage waste sampling programmes for its suitability as an alternative growth media
  • Physical characterisation to help guide closure landform design including cover systems
  • Ongoing characterisation and interpretation of geochemical information during operations
  • Provide guidance with regards to the flagging of geological and mining models, reconcile and advise on required improvements
  • Investigates deviations in model performance of AMD and reactive ground
  • Advise on management requirements for material that poses a risk to the environment including preparation of management plans and standards.
  • Reviews pit and waste rock dump designs to ensure they align with the management requirements
  • Train and educate others on aspects of AMD, geological presentation, and monitoring
 
The Requirements:
  • Degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science related subject or relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Practical experience managing geological logging and modelling
  • Understanding of mine planning process across the short and long terms
  • Proficient in the use of acQuire (or a like geological database), Vulcan and MS Office
  • Experience with Pilbara geology or environmental risk management
  • Familiar with the Federal and Western Australian environmental legislation and approval process
