We are currently recruiting a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a Global Oil & Gas Operator in Darwin, NT on an initial 12 month contract from start date to provide guidance to the Operations and Project team on mechanical engineering issues.

Compliance:
  • Ensure that the plant technical integrity is protected by managing mechanical equipment in line with the commitments made as part of the safety case performance standards and design assumptions;
  • Correct equipment is specified as part of the design
  •  Performance standards are met through maintenance strategies
  •  Drawings are maintained and are up to date
  • Ensure the reliability of mechanical equipment will meet annual delivery plan commitments by;
  • The right preventive maintenance tasks are being completed
  • Performance monitoring program is in place
  • Quality of work being executed by contractors and staff is done consistently to the required standard
  • Data is being collected and analysed
  • Trouble shooting and investigation of failures
  • Improvements to plant and processes are identified and implemented
  • Effective conditioning monitoring program in place.
  • Manage plant changes associated with Mechanical Equipment
  • Ensure equipment is operated within limits to prevent failures
Risk Management:
  • Highlight risk associated with the critical interfaces and equipment and develop mitigation plans accordingly.
  • Act as focal for management of risks associated with mechanical equipment
  • Implement appropriate mitigation plans for known mechanical risks
  • Implement assurance plans for risks and controls for mechanical equipment
  • Sound knowledge of static mechanical equipment in an operational
  • O&G facility and/or Operational Power Station.
  •  Delivery of Mechanical Engineering scopes of work for the Onshore LNG plant.
  • Continuous review and improvement of maintenance and operating strategies for mechanical and rotating equipment.
  • Technical support to plant breakdowns and planned shutdowns
  • Support, approvals and assurance for technical management of change items
Additional:
  •  Provide input into OPEX and CAPX budgets
  • Input into development and maintenance of mechanical engineering strategies, procedures and standards.
  • Review/prepare technical evaluations of equipment
  •  Review of vendor drawings, equipment datasheets, calculations, work method statements
  • Provision of technical expertise for Technical Query responses
  • Input into risk and safety analysis techniques such as SIMOPS, HAZID, HAZOPS, QRAs and RCA.
  •  Development of mitigation plans for risk associated mechanical equipment.
  • Supervision and mentoring of less experienced mechanical support engineers.
Qualification & Requirements:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in supporting oil and gas operations with experience in maintenance and/or integrity areas. Combined Cycle Power Station experience would be advantageous.
  • Detailed knowledge of industry standards related to mechanical systems
