Senior Mechanical Engineer/Mechanical Design Lead
I am currently working with a Brisbane based design consultancy with a reputation for providing end to end design services and construction support related to water and wastewater networks, pipelines, and treatment facilities.
They are currently looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience in the waste/wastewater industry to join the team on a full-time basis.
The opportunity will involve leading mechanical design packages and project management for water/wastewater treatment plants and related projects. The role is a senior position and will have the potential to lead into a Mechanical Design Lead role in the future.

Responsibilities
- Development of mechanical design deliverables & documentation for water and wastewater infrastructure including:
- Engineering calculations
- Hydraulic/ surge modelling
- Detailed design drawings
- Technical specifications & reports
- Scopes of work
- Coordinating design outputs with drafting services
- Effective Project Management of water projects throughout the lifecycle including:
- Liaising with clients and other stakeholders.
- Organising design inputs from various sub-contractors.
- Preparation and management of design schedule & cost control for design packages.
- Contributing to tender submissions.
- Conducting site inspections, audits and works supervision.
- 5+years’ experience in mechanical engineering with proven ability to lead and manage projects independently
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Construction Induction (White Card).
- Water and Sewerage engineering experience in; pump station design, pipeline design, hydraulics/modelling, design management, planning and feasibility studies
- Knowledge of relevant local design codes & standards (SEQCode, WSAA, Australia Standards)
- Experience relevant modelling software.
- Experience in Hydraulic modelling - Water and Sewage reticulation, bulk-water / Surge.
- RPEQ in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to client satisfaction and attention to detail
- Flexibility and adaptability to manage changing requirements and deadlines
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively within the team and the organisation.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, solve problems, manage and meet deadlines, and maintain a high quality of work.
