Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer – 12 Months Contract – Iraq

28 x 28 Rotation

Essential:-  Bachelor’s degree in engineering, IT&C, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – Routing & Switching or equivalent certification. 7+ years of experience in IT&C infrastructure roles, providing direct customer support and enterprise network management. Minimum 5 years of experience as a network or telecom engineer, primarily within a Cisco-based infrastructure. Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing large-scale network infrastructure solutions.

Required:-  Enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, data centre networking, and firewall technologies. Cisco network solutions, with expertise in switching, routing, and firewalls (Nexus 9k/7k/5k, ASR 9k, Catalyst 9k/6500). Tiered network architectures (Core / Distribution / Access) and best practices for high-performance, scalable network environments. Microwave Transmission Systems for remote and industrial communications (PTP and PMP solutions). Data centre operations and associated technologies, ensuring reliability and security of mission-critical systems. Experience working within structured change management processes, ensuring controlled and risk-managed infrastructure modifications. Cisco DWDM solutions expertise is a plus. Strong knowledge of routing protocols, including BGP, MPLS/MPLS-TE, Segment Routing, and OSPF/EIGRP/ISIS. Knowledge on Cisco Unified communication, GSM gateways operations, SIP trunks.

The Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance across all operational sites. This role plays a key part in maintaining and enhancing my client’s network infrastructure, ensuring it meets the evolving demands of the business. The Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer will work on complex networking projects, including the introduction of new technologies, upgrades, and optimizations to improve resilience and scalability. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of network solutions with IT&C and operational systems while adhering to industry best practices and regulatory compliance.

Additionally, the role requires expertise in LAN, WAN, data centre, industrial network, and cloud networking technologies. The Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer will be expected to provide technical leadership, drive infrastructure improvements, and support digital transformation initiatives that enhance overall network efficiency and security.

Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer Key Accountabilities –             
  • Collaborate with Digital Design, Applications, Field Communications, and Digital Workplace Teams to ensure high-quality network services and successful project delivery.
  • Design, implement, and maintain core network infrastructure, including data centre and campus LAN, terrestrial and VSAT WAN, firewalls, and active network components to support business operations.
  • Ensure network infrastructure meets service targets, optimizing performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Manage and execute network-related changes, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations and adherence to best practices.
  • Mentor and support junior 1st-level support engineers, providing guidance and technical leadership.
  • Provide advanced (2nd/3rd level) network support, diagnosing and resolving complex incidents and performance issues.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to service delivery, proposing and executing approved solutions to maintain business continuity.
  • Lead incident recovery efforts, conducting root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and maintain network roadmaps, including upgrade plans and end-of-life strategies for infrastructure components.
  • Continuously assess and improve network processes, driving efficiency and automation where applicable.
  • Optimize vendor relationships and service contracts, ensuring maximum value from network infrastructure agreements.
  • Provide structured reporting, tracking progress on incidents, projects, key activities, and management information to support decision-making.
