Role Purpose: 

Senior NDE Engineer will be responsible for conducting essential reviews, providing oversight, and offering expert advice on Nondestructive examination of materials and welding for the all the projects executed by the Company, as required.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Standards and Procedures
• Develop/Review/standards and process documents for the Company and its affiliated entities.
• Review/Verify/Approve Quality Assurance Procedures submitted by Suppliers and Subcontractors.
• Perform a gap analysis report to compare the Company's current practices with client requirements and identify areas for improvement.

2. Coordination
• Engage with the Project EPCI Team, Classification Society, and Client Representative as needed.
• Mentor and provide technical support on Site NDE activities during Fabrication, as required.

3. Audits, Assessments and Inspections
• Perform audits and assessments according to department and/or project plans, identify and report the observations and non-conformances (NC’s), if any.
• If concerns arise during audits and assessments, aid in resolving findings, as necessary.
• Witness NDE Procedure demonstrations and review reports for methods such as PAUT, RT, UT, etc., and validate the procedure, scan plan and technique sheets.

4. Technical Query / Deviation Request
• Review of Technical Queries (TQ)/ Design Deviation (DDN) submitted by the Supplier and Subcontractor.

5. Certificate review
• Review Supplier and Subcontractor technical qualification.
• Review Supplier and Subcontractor NDE personnel certification.
• Review Supplier and Subcontractor equipment records.

6. Develop & Implement, New / latest NDE Techniques
• Develop solutions to various material and weld issues encountered by analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating various precedents and data.
• Assist Suppliers and Subcontractors to develop new process / procedures to suit project needs.

7. Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Problem-Solving skills.
• Collaborate in conducting root cause analyses on related issues, as necessary.
• Develop solutions for unique problems by analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating various precedents and data, with the support of the Project QA Manager, Package Engineer, Site Manager, and Supervisors.

8. Key Performance Indicators
• Develop and Monitor KPIs
• Monitor Subcontractor work progress and advise effective means of clearing NDE backlogs during Fabrication.

9. Surveillance
• Implement NDE personnel verification and surveillance program in projects, as needed.
• Implementation of Lessons learned
• Utilize lessons learned from past projects to make necessary adjustments in MODEC Corporate/Project Specifications.

Qualification & Competencies:

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or any relevant Engineering discipline, with a preference for a degree.
• Have a minimum of 5 to 7 years' experience in onshore/offshore Oil & Gas fields or FPSO lines or equivalent.
• Possess hands-on experience with UT and advanced NDE methods.
• Possess strong Radiographic film interpretation skills, and working knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, and classifications.
• ASNT Level III certification or equivalent in all commonly used methods, PCN PAUT/TOFD Level 2/3 or Equivalent.


NOTE: Due to national content requirement, priority will be given to local Malaysians and expats with RPT (residence permit).
