Role Requirements :

  • Manage all FEED umbilicals engineering activities and oversee FEED contractor technical activities related to your discipline. Follow up on FEED studies concerning umbilicals from vendors and engineering houses.
  • Prepare and ensure timely delivery of the umbilical sub-system Call For Tender technical package for the SURF EPCI Contract, considering the impact of other SURF/FPSO/SPS sub-systems.
  • Review SURF Tenderers' technical offers for fitness for purpose and compliance with project and company requirements.
  • Lead technical clarifications with Tenderers, ensuring timely closure of technical qualifications.
  •  Conduct technical evaluations of tenders and support the preparation of the RTA technical part.
  • Define, develop, issue, and maintain all necessary technical documentation related to umbilicals design and installation activities.
  • Support and participate in the development and maintenance of Project Management main documents (SOR, FDP, PEP, PQP, Risks, etc.).
  • Follow up, review, and validate progress performed by SURF Contractor and its suppliers regarding your disciplines.
  • Analyze and report drifts, proposing remedial solutions.
  • Provide alternative designs or technical solutions as needed, considering project constraints.
  • Supervise and control detailed engineering by reviewing discipline-related documentation issued by SURF Contractor.
  • Ensure compliance with Project Specifications, Procedures, international norms, and standards.
  • Optimize costs without impacting required levels of quality and safety.
  • Raise necessary comments and highlight unsafe designs, deviations, unacceptable/unjustified design choices, and constructability issues.
  • Act as the technical referent for umbilicals matters and follow up with suppliers providing equipment for umbilicals.
  • Ensure technical compliance throughout the project life of engineered, procured, fabricated, tested, and installed umbilicals.
  • Implement all technical, QA/QC, and H3SE project policies and requirements.
  • Ensure contractors' compliance with contractual requirements in all areas.
  • Report concerns, issues, or potential deviations to the Technical Manager, proposing timely solutions and optimizations.
  • Ensure alignment with umbilicals specialists at Company Headquarters. Liaise with other package teams (SPS, FPSO) for interface matters with the support of Interface Managers and leads.
  • Organize and participate in project reviews. Assist and support the Technical Manager and Subsea Manager on all aspects of umbilicals activities related to Call For Tender, clarification and evaluation process, project execution, and contracts management.
  • Coordinate with other team members, including the SURF contract engineer, for follow-up of correspondence and contract activities throughout the full CFT process and during project execution.
  • Participate in the installation phase, tests, commissioning, and handover, assisting the Installation Leader during offshore work campaigns as necessary.

Background :
  • Education : Master’s degree in engineering,
  • Experience within project: at least 10 years in large offshore oil & gas SURF very deep water projects and experience in umbilical design on an EPCI project.
  • Very strong experience in dynamic umbilicals design and fabrication mandatory.

Additional requirements:
  • Good knowledge of relevant codes (DNV)
  • Previous experience with Major SURF Contractors during project execution for deep water project and follow-up of the engineering and procurement of umbilicals
  • Previous experience with Umbilical Manufacturing Supplier,
  • Positive, constructive, proactive and pragmatic mindset.
  • Ability to work within large teams with other parties (Contractors, suppliers, HQ technical teams, etc).
  • Previous experience within a complex and multicultural working environment.
