The Opportunity
Are you an IT professional with strong technical expertise and a passion for systems development and maintenance? 

We represent an Oil & Gas client looking for a Systems Analyst to join it's Oil Sands Business Unit. In this role, you will collaborate with the Engineering Information Management team to resolve technical issues, offer guidance, and ensure efficient support ticket resolution. You will leverage your technical and functional skills to design application components and data structures that meet business needs, contributing to the management and optimization of applications, reports, and data across the Oil Sands portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in all phases of the application development lifecycle, including solution design, testing, and user demonstrations.
  • Analyze and recommend configurations for both in-house and vendor applications to best meet customer requirements.
  • Own and implement best practices for application development, integration, and deployment to ensure stability and reliability.
  • Estimate effort and resources required for designing new or modifying existing applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, providing guidance to developers and analysts.
  • Develop maintenance procedures, monitor system health, and address reported errors and alarms.
  • Occasional travel to field sites in northern Alberta.

  • Shift: 5x2 – Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts

Skills & Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience as a Systems Analyst, with a post-secondary degree or diploma in computer science or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in computer systems, hardware, software, and troubleshooting client/server-based applications.
  • Proficiency in process and data modeling, effort/cost estimation, and system configuration.
  • Hands-on experience with application installation, configuration, documentation, testing, training, and implementation.
  • Knowledge in N-tier application design and development in various tools and environments.
Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to document system requirements and propose improvements.
  • Analyze existing systems and workflows to enhance efficiency.
  • Provide ongoing system support, including user training and creating detailed documentation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and recommend technological improvements.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Systems Analyst or similar role with excellent troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, able to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with database management and programming languages is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies is desirable.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
