Trainee Survey Technician Job Description
 
Position: Trainee Survey Technician
Position Type: Permanent
Reports To: (Position) Team Leader
Location: Great Yarmouth
 
Purpose of the Job:
 
Working within our Technical & Operations division, the Trainee Survey Technician role will be to support the Survey team in achieving the overall team’s day to day objectives.
 
Principal Accountabilities:
 
  1. Preparing and testing of equipment prior to rental and post hire.
  2. Function testing, software / firmware updates, cable integrity.
  3. Ensuring completeness of equipment against packing lists.
  4. Checking, inspecting, and documenting equipment returned from hire.
  5. Visual inspection, function testing and writing technical reports.
  6. Identification of in-house or external repair tasks.
  7. Preparing all assets to ensure they are ready for delivery to clients at short notice.
  8. General warehouse and delivery duties.
  9. Checking, inspecting and documenting equipment on mobilisation.
  10. Setup, interface, function test on mobilisation.
  11. Troubleshoot to successful conclusion.
  12. Assist offshore survey team as required.
  13. Demobilise, check, inspect and document equipment prior to dispatch back to base.
  14. Attend Offshore training and undergo an Offshore medical.

Relationships:
Survey Technicians, Survey Engineers and external clients.
Desired Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Qualified to A-Level/Higher Level in maths, science, and technology.
 
Job Knowledge and Experience:
 
(Indicate the essential background qualifications, education, skills and aptitudes, specialist training and experience necessary to perform the job competently)
Qualified to degree level in relevant Engineering or have 1 year plus equivalent experience.

  • Ability to work as a team taking directions.
  • Ability to work independently and confidently when representing the company at client premises.
