Job Title: Turnaround Instrument Planner
January 2025 - December 2025
40 hour work week during planning phase
80+ hours during execution phase
NOTE: Candidates must be local to Edmonton area (flexible remote work is available, however candidates must be able to commute to site as needed for meetings, execution, and min 1 week/month)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and planning skills. Strong leadership abilities.
  • Working knowledge of product development and manufacturing processes.
  • Understands electrical and instrumentation construction and workflow processes.
  • Some bending, climbing, crawling, lifting and shift work will be required.
  • Ability to accurately perform other duties as assigned.
  • Understands quality standards as outlined by company
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation drawings and PID’s.
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing test / work packages for issuance to the field.
  • 3+ years as an Electrical and Instrumentation Planner.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and business software, including Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook) SAP, Primavera P6, Adobe.
  • 5+ years of Electrical/Instrumentation journey-level maintenance experience and/or Instrumentation Maintenance planning.
  • 5+ Years of experience in Electrical and Instrumentation construction.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists with the development of the electrical and instrument work scope.
  • Identify, scope, and produce construction work packages for execution.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation drawings.
  • Perform and lead field walks for site verification.
  • Provide leadership in risk management, contractor safety, and mitigating safety issues in operations
  • Organizing materials through expediting, quoting prices, and ensuring the correct parts are available for jobs
  • Create detailed planning activities in P6 for each work order utilizing planning templates as applicable.  Activities include individual tasks, manpower, durations, and assigned discipline.
  • Provide daily schedule updates during outage execution.
  • Create job planning packages for each work order per company guidelines for both internal and external distribution, e.g. bid events, contractor field personnel, etc.  Packages may include pictures, P&IDs, BOMs, tools, safe work procedures, applicable standards, QC requirements, etc.
  • Support Management of Change process, recognizing plant changes and following through on all documentation and recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate scope, revisions, and activity breakdowns to other groups.
  • Uphold and communicate high standards of housekeeping in assigned areas and on all job sites. Conduct frequent formal housekeeping inspections of plant areas.
  • Complete close out and documentation as required by standards and procedures.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
  • Willing to work a wide variety of scheduled days and hours, following strict fatigue management guidelines. Travel may be required as much as 25-45% depending on projects.
  • Ability to work without close supervision.
  • Works professionally and harmoniously with co-workers, supervisors, management, support personnel, program participants, and business-related persons.

  • Able to achieve various State mandated certifications, OSHA, TWIC, and other requirements as may be deemed necessary.
