Role: Welding & NDT Engineer
Location: China (fabrication yard)
Duration: 12 months
Rotation: 8 weeks on/ 2 weeks off
Start date: January 2025

Activities
• The WNE shall promote HSE culture in all interactions with CCS and the contractors teams, monitor their adherence to HSE rules and demonstrate own commitment by leading by example.
• The WNE will maintain a close work relationship with CCS and contractor supervision. He will participate in daily or weekly production meetings with them as allowed. He will display a visible daily presence on the yard shopfloor.
• The WNE primary responsibility will be to ensure a Quality welding work execution, and to constantly challenge the QC supervision of CCS and the contractor for flawless QC and documentation. Note: CCS will have more than 50 reps and site, which will drive all aspects of the work.
• The WNE shall ensure that approved up-to-date drawings, fabrication/welding procedures and NDT techniques are adhered to.
• The WNE shall ensure that welding & NDT equipment are adequate for the job, and that manpower (fitters, welders, inspectors) is trained, qualified and performs in line with expectation and approved procedure.
• The WNE shall facilitate WPS adjustments where needed, in line with HQ Welding specialist and in collaboration with CCS.
• The WNE will strive to creatively extract QC info and welding/welder statistics from CCS and the contractor who may not display a fully transparent attitude. The WNE will learn how to use the yard “smart” fabrication management system tool, SFMS.
• The WNE shall track NCR corrective actions, and also ensure quick detection/correction of any welding performance reduction.
• Monitoring welding quality, including NDT performance, will be the heart of the job but focus will also be necessary on mat’l quality, dimensional control, preservation of consumables and steel.

Accountabilities
• The WNE will report to the Company Rep on the yard, and will also maintain a close link with the Project QA/QC Manager.

Qualifications/Experience required
• Mechanical engineering degree/diploma.
• CSWIP or equivalent certification as Senior Welding Inspector.
• ASNT LEVEL II Certification (current) in
o Interpretation of Radiographic Film
o Ultra Sonic Inspection
o Magnetic Particle Inspection
• 10-year experience in O&G or Wind industry.
• Good knowledge of AWS D1.1 and ASME B31.3
• Strong English written and verbal communication skills. Chinese or French is advantageous.
