Workshop Technician – Trainee Technical Services Specialist

Main Role Purpose:
Supporting the technical services function by taking on the primary workshop responsibilities on our premises.

To complete work scopes on location at the client's assets or premises. The main sectors of operation will include Wellhead, Void, Cavity, and pack-off Isolation, Gate Valve and stem Seal Isolation, and DHSV Control Line leak repairs.

You will conduct and perform your employment duties in a professional, safe, and diligent manner, as well as the execution of operations following job programmes and procedures, to ensure the successful completion of the operation and client satisfaction.

Location:           
  • Client Office/Workshop (Aberdeen, UK)
  • Field Service Work based On/Offshore (UK, North Sea & International)

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities       
Operational Workshop Duties:
  • Carry out stock control of materials/equipment
  • Update equipment maintenance & testing
  • Asset register maintenance (including register reviews, equipment status, equipment booking in & out, and shared drive folder organisation)
  • Organise forklift yearly inspections
  • Organise compressor yearly inspections
  • Organise LOLER 6 monthly inspections
  • Special waste disposal
  • Manufacture sealants
  • Stock updating
  • Batch sheets & QC testing
  • Quote enquiries
  • Purchase orders
  • Purchase order reviews
  • Contacting suppliers
  • Updating master purchasing register
  • Admin (raising commercial invoices, delivery notes, organising transport/equipment)
  • Deliveries & collections
  • Fire safety inspections (alarms, doors, lighting, extinguishers)
  • Spill kit reviews
  • Forklift checklist
  • Compressor checklist
  • COSHH assessment yearly updates (COSHH assessor)

Other Operation Duties:
  • Mobilise within the UK and overseas
  • Carry out diagnostics and evaluations on client assets to determine issues and solutions
  • Deploy new and existing KCI products to align with the competency portfolio
  • Listen to client feedback and report back to the line manager to ensure continuous improvement
  • Be available to respond to client's needs at all times (mobilising, procedures, tool prep)
  • Maintain all equipment on site
  • Adhere to all client-specific training requirements to allow safe working on client assets
  • Carry out daily reports during operations
  • Provide support to assisting work parties
  • Carry out permit training to take out job-specific permits for certain clients
  • Perform TBTs as project leader

Technical:
  • Ensure that all equipment has a clean and tidy appearance to give the correct impression to the client

Domestic:
  • Assist with and perform basic trials and testing operations
  • Carry out basic calculations related to operational procedures
  • Draft and implement project procedures

Reporting:
  • Work effectively with other members of staff to ensure a harmonious working environment
  • Perform other duties which may be required as directed by your line manager or his deputy
  • All job-relevant paperwork and reports to be completed and produced in a timely and professional manner as and when required

QHSE – Standard:
  • Ensure all applicable quality and operational procedures as identified in manuals and work scopes are always adhered to
  • Ensure all functions are performed in accordance with safety and environmental procedures
  • Ensure all incidents or accidents are immediately reported and relevant paperwork is completed.

  • Comply with duties in relation to fire safety, as set out in the H&S Policy and fire safety plan
  • Maintain good overall knowledge of Health & Safety in the workplace

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
  • Minimum of 1 Year of offshore oil and gas industry experience with existing offshore certificates
  • Good understanding of oil and gas general engineering practices and procedures
  • Have a suitable working knowledge of our client’s range of products and services and their application within the industry
  • Good communication skills and PC literate and familiar with Microsoft Office applications (essential)
  • Comprehensive report writing ability
  • Multi-tasking, well-organised and reliable
  • Self-motivated and efficient
  • UK Driving license and own transportation

Desirable:
  • Good knowledge of wellhead, valve and maintenance operations
