PROJECT OVERVIEW
NES Fircroft supplied eighteen experienced shutdown coordinators to the client to oversee the Delaware Refinery turnaround.
These coordinators, all with significant turnaround experience, included ex-turnaround managers, boilermakers, mechanical experts, and tower and vessel specialists. The coordinators supervised contractors performing both planned maintenance and discovery work during the shutdown. The scope included overseeing work execution, managing discovery items, and ensuring the final testing and reinstatement of the refinery plant items.

Shutdown Scope
Fluid Catalytic Cracker
Plenum and cyclone change out, head cleaning, reinstatement, and testing.
Super Heater
Removal of pendant coils, replacement, welding, and hydrotesting.
Steam Drum
Tube replacement, refurbishment, cleaning, and reinstatement.
Boiler kiln
clean out, removal, replacement, and repair of refractory linings.
CNHTU (Cracked Naphtha Hydro Treating Unit)
Tower cleaning and inspection, welding repair, and coating repair.
Vessels
Vessel cleaning, sandblasting, coating repair, and recoating (Titanium and concrete)
Exchangers
Removal and refurbishment of bundles, installation of new exchanger tubing.
General
Hydrotesting, PSV setting/replacement, Wet Gas Compressor overhaul, seal replacement, inspection, and repair.
DELIVERABLES
- Daily and Shift Reports: Detailing progress, issues, and resolutions during the shutdown process.
- Final Inspection Reports: Summarizing inspections, findings, and final acceptance of completed work.
- Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs): Detailed reports on any non-conformances, including corrective actions taken.
- Punch Lists: Identifying incomplete or non-conforming work, with follow-up documentation on closeouts.
Timeline
Managed according to the shutdown schedule agreed upon with the client.
